D. Skusevičius meets with new German Ambassador, discusses regional security and prospects for bilateral relations
Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister thanked Germany for its significant contribution to security of Lithuania and the Baltic region. In Lithuania, the NATO enhanced forward presence battalion is led by the framework nation – Germany. The country’s troops serve in the NATO Force Integration Unit in Lithuania. Germany also contributes to the Vilnius-based NATO Energy Security Center of Excellence. Germany has carried out NATO's Baltic Air Policing mission ten times.
D. Skusevičius noted that Germany was one of Lithuania's most important partners. The officials welcomed strong bilateral economic ties. Germany is Lithuania’s third largest trading partner and the fifth largest foreign investor. In addition, the Foreign Vice-Minister voiced his hope that the two countries would continue to develop their successful relationship and that people-to-people relations would be strengthened.
